THE HAROLD FOODIE FEST

Aloha to all my good friends, chefs, cooks, restaurant owners, food purveyors, bar tenders, waiters, waitresses, and all you foodies at heart that love food, family and friends. Pictured on the left is my late brother Harold, who was the real chef in the family. He was a businessman that experienced success, and losses. His dream was to continue to cook, and touch lives. In this picture, he took me to A Saigon Cafe in Wailuku, we discussed life, goals, dreams, setbacks, and victories. During his life, he suffered tragic losses, and experienced ultimate success, and downfalls again, and again. He was a true businessman, a family man, a son, a brother, a father, a grandfather. He told me to carry on what I'm doing, and although I'm not a trained chef, he was instrumental in me producing my own cooking shows on Akaku Television on Maui. He told me all the time, continue what you're doing, I'll give you tips and advice. Now that he's gone, a big hole is in my life, I lost an older brother and a best friend. He saw in me what I never saw in myself. He said, "You touch lives that's the main thing brah, continue and you'll be blessed." My life stalled when he died.

One of my dreams is to carry on his name, and his passion for food and people. I want to discuss a food festival called The Harold Foodie Fest to be held on Maui that will showcase many of the young and talented chefs on Maui, as well as anyone who can add value to people's lives with food as the medium.

I hope that all of you will share this idea with me, and continue to do good work in helping others. Harold was always serving his church, I want to carry on his dream of touching people's lives with food and music.

With many food festivals on Maui that's established, I'm sure with a mastermind of people in the industry and community, we can create a fun entertaining & educational foodie festival on Maui, that can draw foodies from all over the world and put bodies in our hotels possibly during the slow Fall season.
